Greetings to all of you!
I write to you with the same motivation as always, wanting to be a subtle voice over during the moments in the week in which you stop for a second to doodle with your mind… waiting for the sub, waiting in line to pay the bills, taking a coffee break or even while you take a shower, thinking. The next lines are a little bit esoteric, hope you enjoy them.
There is an absurd humoristic exquisite novel – but very intelligent – written by Douglas Adams, named “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy”. The book is profound, and at the same time it makes you laugh out loud on a Wednesday morning heading to work, reading in the bus.
In one of its chapters, one of the characters is subjected to the most horrible torture device to which a sentient being can be subjected, the Total Perspective Vortex. When you are put into the Vortex you are given just one momentary glimpse of the entire unimaginable infinity of creation, and somewhere in it a tiny little mark, a microscopic dot on a microscopic dot, which says, “You are here.”
This can be taken humorously as a torture, as it can be depressing to acknowledge how insignificant we are compared to the infinite, but to me, it is simply spectacular. And that torture can be ecstasy for the mind if it serves us to feel part of a much larger whole, a live piece within the cosmos.
A friend of mine, Fede G. C., sent me this link because it reminds him the Total Perspective Vortex. The link presents us a scale of the universe. It’s a dynamic picture in which you can zoom in and out in order to explore different levels of matter, from the microscopic to the macroscopic. Fascinating! Thanks Fede for the info!
All this reminds me of how human consciousness prints changes in reality. This idea is widely treated in the Concepts Section of this web side, precisely in “Human and Planetary Consciousness”, which I love to quote over and over again. =)
Nowadays, our consciousness permeates everything around us and it is just beautiful to stop for a moment and perceive how our consciousness takes action in our daily lives all the time. John, a friend of mine that I do not see in years, sent me this video which explains through astounding images these concepts. Cheers John!
Power Hug,
Brian Longstaff.-
