Hi There!
I’d like to start this newsletter with a quote that got me thinking:
“I have risen to the highest mountain and the absent condor, in invisible flight has told me to take refuge in my heart, that the things of the modern world should not discourage us, that something new, the oldest, with new costumes, was brewing silently, embodied in renewed beings, from the most varied geographies”
“Ecología Chamanica”, Luis Espinoza (Chamalu). Ed. Obelisco. Page 16
What is new, based on the old but with new clothing, is this movement that is emerging throughout the world. A new society, with a worldview based on the ancient traditions that respected Mother Earth, which tends to operate by sharing information for the general welfare.
With this premise as core value, I go on to share with you more information which may turn out to be interesting for you. Within this info, there is an excellent video of a David Gallo’s conference , a pioneer of oceanographic exploration, which shows incredible images of the underwater life and some of its peculiarities.
On the other hand, a very complete article appeared about the social and environmental impact of the soya monoculture in Argentina. Argentina is gaining a large amount of money through this cultivation. The problem is to exhaust the soil productivity in the long term in order to fill their pockets in the short term.
The good news of the week, is the construction of a new wind farm of 50 wind turbines in Buenos Aires. This is an important endeavor, because the electricity generated will supply the localities of Tornquist, Sierra de la Ventana, Saldungaray, Coronel Suarez, Pigüé and Puan. Although they are the first serious projects that are emerging in the country, it is this type of job demonstrates the efficiency of renewable energies at a local level.
Finally, for those who live in cities – within Argentina – we recommend you visit the National Observatory for the Urban Solid Waste Management’s web page. In it, you will find useful information on the Urban Solid Waste; in particular, in the section “Tools” of the page is a list of recycling companies (to promote the market for recyclable materials) as well as a guide for the elaboration of sanitary landfills.
In addition, the page dictates a course on Integrated Management of Urban Solid Waste. The course is taught entirely in distance mode and it is virtual. The registration and course attendance are free of charge. The duration is 10 weeks. Vacancies are limited. Next Edition: September 2011. Those interested have to communicate with Mr. Federico Moreno of the Observatory via e-mail, [email protected] , or by telephone +54 (011)Slow 4348 8655.
My dear friends, till the next Newsletter. I salute you with the usual warmth, hoping these lines bring you some curiosity.
Love, Peace, Unity and Friendship.
Brian Longstaff.
