Good week to all of you!, especially in the closure of this year
I would like to keep on celebrating the creation of internet as a global conector, as an infinite web of information. For this I wanted to share stumbleupon, a web site in which you basically can do a “selective zapping” through internet. You register yourself in the web site, you enter your likes: arts, literature, landscape, science, photography, music, movies, whatever… and you and you go pressing a button that takes your through different web sites randomly according to your interests.
Through this way of exploring the web, I found several pictures and videos which I shared in this website. This week I got to know the Ten Humanist Commandments, proposed by Dr. Rodrigue Tremblay.
- Proclaim the natural dignity and inherent worth of all human beings.
- Respect the life and property of others.
- Practice tolerance and open-mindedness towards the choices and life styles of others.
- Share with those who are less fortunate and mutually assist those who are in need of help.
- Use neither lies, nor spiritual doctrine, nor temporal power to dominate and exploit others.
- Rely on reason, logic and science to understand the Universe and to solve life’s problems.
- Conserve and improve the Earth’s natural environment—land, soil, water, air and space—as humankind’s common heritage.
- Resolve differences and conflicts cooperatively without resorting to violence or to wars.
- Organize public affairs according to individual freedom and responsibility, through political and economic democracy.
- Develop one’s intelligence and talents through education and effort.
Extracted from “The Code for Global Ethics: Ten Humanist Principles”, Rodrigue Tremblay. Prometheus Books, 2010. (Rodrigue Tremblay (born October 13, 1939) is a Canadian-born economist, humanist and political figure. He taught economics at the Université de Montréal. He specializes in macroeconomics, international trade and public finance. He is a prolific author of books in economics and politics.)
I found it attractive to share these premises with you, specially facing this new year ahead. One might read them and think they are a little bit utopian… but I still believe that that which is utopian should come back to our daily thinking, should come back to guide you towards were you need to go. Let us stand up, and be true with ourselves, that is all we need to do to start changing everything.

Ploff. It is not environmentalism. It is changing the world.
