Good week to all of you.

We meet again, willing to share information that leaves you thinking, a little bit pissed off, but happy of owning this knowledge.

Claudio Iglesias, a friend of mine, director of de Intellectual Property Institute of Buenos Aires, sent me an article on patents on seeds written 3 years ago, but which reality is quite actual. It says, these kinds of patents on seeds are the backbone of a strategy to achieve global control over food production in every level. Thus, we lose the right to work, plant and harvest our own land, according to our traditions. We can no longer use our own seeds; a new sad form of disconnection with Gaia.

In my opinion, the spiritual detriment is very painful, because it is a subtle consequence which invades us little by little. That feeling of alienation that we feel with nature, th0se gray days, in which the citizen is deep in thoughts… Could it be that we are separating ourselves more and more from the biosphere?

We can talk an entire afternoon about the philosophical implications of having reached the point of considering seeds as private property. However, the most direct impacts are more visible:

• Increasing monopolization of seeds and farm animals by patents
• Loss of independence and the growing indebtedness of farmers,
• The decline in plant and animal diversity,
• The increasing restrictions on the activities of cultivation, breeding and research.

And why, as I always ask, don’t they tell is about these things on the TV, the radio or the newspapers? My dear readers… the answer to this question is very simple and I found it in an article entitled “The 10 media manipulation techniques”, regretfully, only in Spanish, but the message prevails in the words of Noam Chomsky, who wrote it:

“The primary element of social control is the strategy of distraction which consists in diverting the public’s attention from important issues and changes decided by the political and economic elites, by the technique of creating a continuous flood of distractions and insignificant information.”

Hey! Is this really happening?  Isn’t it happening from quite some time now? Let us be our own news report. Friends and journalists. Let us not stop talking about these things in our circle of people.
