This week, a premium professional example and a video to absorb our Earth and our human culture in all its plurality.
First of all, I wanted to introduce you to Damasco Branding, created by Gonzalo Leguizamón, Management Graduate from the Buenos Aires University (among many other studies he has achieved), who defines his project like “some sort of branding agency/consultant office, where Business Responsibility and Sustainability are a means for generating reputation and, hence, strengthening the image of any brand who knows how to communicate these practices correctly.”
Damasco Branding manages marketing and communication plans, with an environmental perspective; a new consulting idea, that helps connecting different ideas of sustainability which are emerging in our societies today. Those ideas of sustainability seek to find an advantage position within the economic market in order to move aside, logically, our soulless natural resources’ over-exploiting practices and the contamination of the environment.
Ideas and projects which only need a little push in order to manifest themselves into reality. From a solar panel national business that want to have more presence in the market, or an NGO which needs help coordinating and planning their plans of action, or why not, a recycled products artist who wants to launch his brand. The applicable examples, within the changes we need to do in the system, are many and varied. And the objective of this group is simple: GIVE MORE TO THE COMMUNITY.
And the recipe they propose is easy to assimilate:
(Marketing + Communication) X (Responsible Ideas) = Sustainable Management
And when it comes to “responsible ideas” you can find values which I usually tend to repeat: and integrated management of our resources, the protection of the environment for present and future generations, environmental education, an efficient final disposition of our wastes; in the end, to learn to do things right.
DAMASCO defines social responsibility as “doing things right and doing good with the things you do”. And so it is, doing good is what gives us back a sense of community. From a corporate, economic, company point of view, they state something which is absolutely true: “good practices are the best and most powerful tool of differentiation and competitive advantage for companies”. When going from one system to another one, we must manage to do things right and do good as well, and we must be able to do so without bankrupting the company.
For instance, if you are interested, here you can check the (Spanish) presentation of the Conscious Development Team programs provided by DAMASCO where you can appreciate much better the job they do.
We need to come back to frugality in order to embrace sustainability.
I leave you with an amazing video from South America to leave you thinking… it might take a while loading because it has a pretty good quality!
Until next week,
Brian Longstaff.-
